PETROENERGY Resources Corp. on Monday said that its 27.121-megawatt direct current (MWDC) Dagohoy Solar Power Plant (DSPP) in Bohol would begin commercial operations on Wednesday after key regulatory approvals were secured.
In a disclosure, PetroEnergy said the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) granted a provisional authority to operate on July 4 while the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP) approved a July 8 start to commercial operations at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market.
The power plant is the first large utility-scale solar facility in Bohol province.
The DSPP is part of Rizal Green Energy Corp.’s (RGEC) portfolio of four utility-scale, ground-mounted solar projects with a combined capacity of 111.58 MWDC.
RGEC is a joint venture between PetroEnergy unit PetroGreen Energy Corp. and Japan’s Taisei Corp.
Other projects in the RGEC portfolio include the 19.61-MWDC San Jose solar plant in Nueva Ecija, which is also awaiting ERC and IEMOP approvals, and the 25.01-MWDC Bugallon plant in Pangasinan and 39.84-MWDC Limbauan plant in Isabela, both scheduled for completion in late 2025.
“We are proud that our Dagohoy solar power facility is set to begin commercial operations in Bohol, adding much needed indigenous and clean energy in the province,” PetroGreen assistant vice president Dave Gadiano said. “Our formal commercial participation in the WESM also marks the commencement of our power supply agreement with our offtaker SN Aboitiz Power,” he added.
PetroEnergy shares were unchanged at P3.60 apiece on Monday.
