Hit Colombian telenovela ‘Betty La Fea’ season 2 set 20 years later

MANILA, Philippines — They were supposed to be the aspirational happily-ever-after fictional couple, but Betty and Armando found themselves at the crossroads of separation and second chances when their love story continues in the second season of “Betty La Fea.” 

The hit 1999 Colombian series was a worldwide hit, with its Tagalized version airing in the country. It even has a Filipino remake starring Bea Alonzo, and even the United States made its own version with America Ferrera in “Ugly Betty.” 

Now more than 20 years later, Betty and Armando’s love story undergoes its test in the sequel series “Betty la Fea: La Historia Continua.” 

“Set more than 20 years later, it follows Betty — now a successful professional and mother — as she secretly rekindles her relationship with Armando after their public divorce,” reads the show’s synopsis. 

Anna Maria Orozco reprises her titular role of Beatrice Pinzon Solano, the brilliant economist who is now a mother and divorced from her great love Armando, played by returning actor Jorge Enrique Abello. 

Their peers at Ecomoda also return in the sequel series. Marcela Valencia, Armando’s original fiancee in the 1999 telenovela returns, as well as her best friend Patricia Fernandez, portayed by the returning actress Lorna Cepeda. 

Another Ecomoda character, the flamboyant and arrogant Hugo Lombardi raises havoc anew, once again played by Julian Arango.

“Betty La Fea 2” will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 15.
