MANILA, Philippines — Actress Jennylyn Mercado will remain with GMA Network “as long as her mother network wants her to stay,” her manager said on Wednesday.
Becky Aguila, who is also the manager of Mercado’s husband and actor Dennis Trillo, addressed “false online accusations” being thrown at the couple, especially after Mercado was absent in the new GMA 7 station ID “Isa sa Puso ng Pilipino.”
The station ID went viral as soon as it was made public last Friday, letting the audience immediately notice Mercado’s nonappearance.
On her Instagram account, @becky_aguila, Aguila assured the public that Mercado would continue to be an artist for GMA and will remain there “as long as her mother network wants her to stay.” “I’m hoping that there will be a second version. We need Carla, Jennylyn, Megan, Max, Gabby Concepcion, Ai Ai Delas Alas…,” wrote a netizen in the YouTube comments of the station ID video.
“Again, Jen is not around in an important GMA event! It hurts that one of GMA’s ultimate stars is not in the station ID. Please don’t let her switch channels,” fans commented in Aguila’s IG post of Dennis Trillo securing an endorsement deal.
Mercado’s inked deal to make a comeback album with ABS-CBN’s record label, Star Music, added fuel to the fire.
However, Aguila denied these speculations, saying that Mercado was not in the station ID simply “because she was unavailable that day.”
The manager also reassured the public that GMA invited Mercado to be part of the station ID and they greatly appreciated the gesture.
“As for Dennis’ alleged comments on TikTok, it was not him. Dennis is a very humble and respectful and known to be a man of few words. He is not the type who would release comments that are insensitive to others most specially to his former colleagues in ABS-CBN where he was first launched via Star Circle,” Aguila added.
Finally, the couple’s manager urged the public to refrain from disseminating hate speech and false accusations online.
