A woman was found stabbed to death in a hotel room in Bacoor, Cavite, and the police have launched a hunt for her partner.
According to Saleema Refran’s 24 Oras Weekend report on Sunday, the woman and her male partner checked in past 2 a.m. on July 3 and went up to their room after getting the key from the receptionist.
After about four hours, the man came downstairs carrying a bag and told the receptionist he was going to go out to buy food.
The receptionist said they first had to call the woman to confirm before he could leave, saying this was the hotel’s policy, but the man said she was sleeping.
Nevertheless, the staff sent an employee up to check on the woman. As the employee was about to go up, the man said he would leave his bag at the front desk as a guarantee that he would return, then quickly left. The hotel staff immediately called the police.
The employee, meanwhile, found the woman lifeless on the bed, with no clothing and with several stab wounds.
CCTV footage showed the male guest making a dash across the busy street away from the hotel. He was identified from the ID in the bag he left.
According to the police investigation, the victim and the suspect had been in a six-year relationship. They had previously separated, allegedly due to abuse inflicted by the suspect on the victim.
According to the woman’s children, they had heard that their mother was meeting with the suspect again and that he was trying to persuade her not to file charges against him.
“Itong suspek natin seloso, sabi nitong mga anak. Ayaw niyang lumalabas mag-isa itong biktima na hindi siya naiimpormahan,” said Bacoor Police patrolman Levin Sinatad.
(Our suspect is reportedly a jealous man. He did not want the victim to go out without his knowledge.)
