A magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit the municipality of Kalamansig in Sultan Kudarat on Thursday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, occurred at 10:13 a.m.
It was recorded exactly at 06.11°N, 123.35°E – 091 km S 57° W of Kalamansig, and had a depth of focus of 651 kilometers.
PHIVOLCS said Intensity II was felt in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
No damage was expected, but aftershocks may occur following the earthquake.
