A RESOLUTION was filed during the second Congressional Commission on Education (Edcom 2) at the House of Representatives on Tuesday, urging President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to create an education Cabinet cluster.
House Concurrent Resolution 28 was filed by Edcom 2 House Commissioners Rep. Roman Romulo, Rep. Mark Go, Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, Rep. Khalid Dimaporo and Rep. Pablo John Garcia.
The resolution seeks a cohesive and coherent national education and workforce development plan.
“As lawmakers, we owe it to all Filipino learners to provide them with quality education and a learning environment that enables and empowers them to be productive individuals,” Romulo said.
During Edcom 2, it was determined that the trifocalization of the education system will allow the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to focus on the subsectors they represent.
Edcom 2 Executive Director Karol Mark Yee said that in the absence of a coordinating body, 68 interagency entities were designated as coordination mechanisms to tackle education issues.
