THE proposed budget for the Office of the Vice President (OVP) for 2025 increased by 8 percent, although there was no request for confidential and intelligence funds (CIF), the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said on Thursday.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said that the proposed allocation for the OVP is P2.037 billion.
“There is no CIF for the Office of the Vice President. They did not request for a CIF,” the budget chief said in a briefing in Malacañang.

The recommended funding is broken down into P1.79 billion for maintenance and other operating expenses and capital outlay, P56 million.
Vice President Sara Duterte retracted her request for CIF amounting to P500 million in the 2024 budget.
She also let go of the P150 million confidential fund intended for the Department of Education, which she previously headed, for this year.
The total amount allocated for the CIF for national agencies is P10.28 billion, Pangandaman said, 16 percent lower than the P12.378 billion approved for 2024.
The Office of the President will get P2.310 billion in intelligence fund and P2.250 billion in confidential expenses, while the Department of National Defense will receive a CIF of P1.7 billion.
Other agencies to be granted the said CIF are the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, P991 million; Philippine National Police, P806 million; Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, P500 million; Department of Justice, P579.4 million; Department of Finance, P79.5 million; and Department of Transportation, P405 million.
The Commission on Human Rights has the smallest CIF at P1 million.
