JUST 35 minutes from Quezon City, a Bulacan community is offering sustainable, energy-efficient living. Each home in Northscapes San Jose del Monte is fitted with SolarSave panels on the roof that help homeowners reduce electricity consumption and carbon footprint. The house and lot units are designed with spaciousness, durability and energy efficiency as key features.
Other technologies that lower electricity costs include ResiShade windows and TropiCool walls that aid in temperature regulation within the living spaces.
An e-shuttle provides residents free and easy access to the city’s major points like the MRT 7 station, city hall, malls and public markets. More than a third of the community’s 5-hectare land area is characterized by lush landscaping and solar-powered streetlamps.
“Based on our estimates, all these energy-efficient features in Northscapes provide residents real-life savings of around P6,000 every month and up to more than P80,000 annually,” says Gigi Alcantara, president of PH1 World Developers, which developed the community. “We dream of a nation where Filipino homes provide not only basic shelter but long-term resilience to the reality of climate change.”
