AIRASIA Philippines is increasing weekly flights to Taipei to 17 from 14 starting this month.
In a statement, the airline said the move was prompted by growing travel demand, with Taipei being one of its top-performing international destinations.
“The additional flights come at the perfect time as we enter [the third quarter] and gear up for the peak travel season,” AirAsia Philippines President and CEO Suresh Bangah said.
“This move gets us ready for the expected surge in demand during the ‘ber months’ (September to December), when many Filipinos head to Taipei to enjoy its cooler climate from September to February,” he added.
The airline said it flew over 70,000 passengers to Taipei in the first half, with the number expected to increase following the extension of visa-free entry for Filipino travelers to July 31 next year.
