APO Agua Infrastructura Inc., a subsidiary of Aboitiz InfraCapital, has more than tripled its water service connections, expanding access to clean water for over 21,000 households in Davao City from only 8,600 in 2022.
“Back in 2022, areas like Cabantian and Panacan faced frequent water interruptions,” the company said in a statement.
It said that at that time, only 90 percent of Cabantian residents and 67 percent of Panacan residents had continuous water access.
“Recent figures show that 95 percent of DCWD customers now enjoy continuous water service, with satisfaction levels reaching an all-time high of 99.6 percent, and 99.9 percent in previously underserved areas like Cabantian and Panacan,” it added.
Apo Agua said the transformation was the result of sustained planning and investment and “didn’t happen overnight.”
“They reflect years of planning, investment, and close collaboration between public and private partners. The DCBWSP is more than an infrastructure project, it is a model for sustainable, inclusive progress.”
The Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project (DCBWSP) is a joint undertaking between Apo Agua and the Davao City Water District that taps the Panigan-Tamugan River to supply surface water to the city.
Apo Agua also highlighted the importance of environmental protection, as all of the city’s water is drawn from the Panigan-Tamugan River watershed.
