MANILA, Philippines — Philippine manufacturers’ prices continued to fall in June, driven mainly by the drop in  prices of computer, electronic and optical products, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Preliminary data released by the PSA yesterday showed that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for manufacturing registered a faster decline of 0.45 percent in June from the 0.38-percent drop in the previous month and the 0.2-percent dip in June last year.

The PPI tracks the average change in factory gate prices relative to a base period.

Average PPI growth in the first semester stood at 0.3 percent.

The PSA said the bigger drop in PPI in June “was primarily due to the faster decrement in the annual growth rate of the PPI for manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products industry division at 2.5 percent in June 2025 from the 2.1-percent annual decrease in May 2025.”

It said the machinery and equipment except electrical industry division also contributed to the faster decline in PPI. The industry division registered a 1.2- percent drop in June from a 0.5-percent uptick in May.

Also cited as a main contributor to the faster decline in PPI was the production other non-metallic mineral products, which saw a bigger decrease of four percent from the previous month’s 3.1 percent drop.

The PSA said eight other industry divisions saw declines in June, while 11 posted increases.

Those which registered declines are transport equipment; electrical equipment; basic metals; fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment; basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations; wood, bamboo, cane, rattan articles and related products; paper and paper products; and wearing apparel.
