Lawmakers from the Senate and the House of Representatives formally elected new members of the majority and minority for both chambers, who will continue working on proposed legislative measures for the remainder of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s administration.
The first regular session of the 20th Congress opened on Monday with the following senators and representatives listed on both ends of the political spectrum:
SENATE
- Senate President: Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero
- Senate President Pro-Tempore: Jinggoy Estrada
- Majority Leader: Joel Villanueva
- Minority Leader: Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
- House Speaker: Martin Romualdez (Leyte, 1st District)
- Majority Leader: Ferdinand Alexander ‘Sandro’ Marcos (Ilocos Norte, 1st District)
- Senior Deputy Speaker: David ‘Jay-Jay’ Suarez (Quezon, 2nd District)
