Megaworld expands Lucky Chinatown mall

PROPERTY developer Megaworld Corp. is expanding the retail footprint of Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, Manila, with the addition of a three-story development that will increase the mall’s total gross leasable area to 36,000 square meters. 

The development, called The Imperial Wing, is expected to meet growing demand for premium commercial spaces in the area.

It will connect to the main mall through the Chinatown Walk on the ground floor, with air-conditioned walkways on the second and third levels. 

Located behind Lucky Chinatown Hotel, it will also provide access to the Chinatown Museum.

“The expansion of Lucky Chinatown through the Imperial Wing reflects our continued commitment to elevating the lifestyle experience on this side of Manila,” Megaworld Lifestyle Malls head Graham Coates said in a statement.

“We are curating a diverse and dynamic tenant mix that responds to the evolving needs and preferences of the market, as we strengthen our role as a vibrant community hub,” he added.

Anchoring the Imperial Wing’s tenant lineup is Nitori, a furniture and home accessories brand from Japan, which will be opening its first store in the city of Manila. 

Chinese lifestyle retailer KKV is also among the first tenants, while Robinsons Supermarket, one of the country’s largest grocery chains, has opened on the ground floor. 

Dining offerings include Mixue, a Chinese multinational fast-food chain and upcoming food outlets include Hen Ho Hotpot, Xibei Ramen, Nono’s, Mesa, llaollao, and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. 

With the development of Imperial Wing, Megaworld aims to further cement Lucky Chinatown’s position as a premier destination for shopping, dining and leisure at the heart of Manila’s historic Chinatown. 

Megaworld shares closed at P2.06 apiece on Friday, up by 3 centavos or 1.48 percent.
