ELECTRICITY has been restored in Luzon with the repair of power lines damaged by continuous rain and Tropical Storm Emong, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) reported on Sunday.
The last affected connection in the Luzon grid, the Bacnotan–Bulala 69-kilovolt (kV) line, was fixed at 10:47 a.m. on July 26.
Meanwhile, the Bauang–San Fernando 115-kV line has been partially rehabilitated, and the remaining customer-owned and maintained portion is being attended to by the La Union Electric Company.
On Friday, Luzon suffered from power interruptions following weather-induced damages in the Labrador-Bolinao 69-kilovolt (kV) line; Bauang-San Fabian 69-kV line; Bauang-Naguilian 69-kV line; Bauang-San Fernando 115-kV line; and the Bacnotan-Bulala 69-kV line.
At 2 a.m. on Saturday, Emong weakened into a tropical depression and left the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 7:10 a.m., according to weather bureau Pagasa.
The NGCP assured the public that it is continuously monitoring weather disturbances, and is ready to activate its overall command center, should there be any threat to its transmission facilities.
