National figure skater and actress Skye Chua will represent the Philippines at the 2025 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy.
On Instagram, GMA Sparkle, Skye’s agency, shared that she is set to compete from Aug. 1 to Aug. 5 at the SM Skating Rink in SM Mall of Asia.
A two-time national medalist, Skye recently returned from intensive training in Osaka, Japan, in preparation for the upcoming competition.
“Competing on home ice, she not only carries the country’s hopes but also inspires a new generation of Filipino skaters as the Philippines hosts this prestigious ISU-sanctioned event,” the post read.
Skye is no stranger to international competition. Earlier this year, she represented the country as flag bearer at the 2025 FISU Winter World University Games in Turin, Italy. She also earned a podium finish at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Open Figure Skating Trophy in July 2024, where she placed third.
Aside from being a national athlete, Skye also does acting, having appeared in television series including GMA’s wartime drama Pulang Araw, and previously showcased her skating skills in the 2023 primetime series Hearts on Ice, which starred Ashley Ortega and Xian Lim.
