MANILA, Philippines — Concerts PH has announced an additional performance date for “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back In Concert,” following overwhelming public demand. The symphonic event, featuring the Grammy-winning score of legendary composer John Williams performed live to film, will now run for two nights — Aug. 30 and the newly added Aug. 31 at The Theatre at Solaire.
Under the direction of acclaimed conductor Gerard Salonga, the Filharmonika Orchestra will bring to life the sweeping soundtrack of the 1980 sci-fi epic while the film plays in full on screen. The event is part of Film Concerts PH’s ongoing Star Wars live-to-picture concert series, which began with “Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert” in September 2024.
“Due to the phenomenal response to the first show, we’re excited to offer fans another chance to experience this unforgettable blend of cinema and live music,” Film Concerts PH shared.
“Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back,” the second film released in the iconic franchise, continues the galactic saga with the Rebel Alliance fleeing from the Empire’s assault. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) seeks training from Jedi Master Yoda, while Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) face betrayal and danger in Cloud City. The film is known for its darker tone and one of the most iconic revelations in movie history.
The film’s score, which includes the now-iconic Imperial March, is among the most recognized in cinematic history. The soundtrack features seventeen cues by Williams, whose prolific career spans over six decades and includes over a hundred film scores such as “Jaws,” “E.T.,” “Jurassic Park,” “Indiana Jones,” “Harry Potter” and all nine episodes of the “Star Wars” saga.
Tickets to the added Aug. 31 show are now available via TicketWorld.com.ph. The concert is licensed by Disney Concerts.
