MANILA, Philippines — “Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez revealed that she often wanted to end her relationship with Ogie Alcasid during their early years.
In an interview with Aster Amoyo, Regine said it was painful for her back then because people threw shade at her over her relationship with Ogie, who was still married to Michelle Van Eimeren at the time.
“It was the people judging us that was difficult. And since I was in the business, I was heavily judged. Malaking iskandalo ‘yun e,” Regine said.
“Ang daming beses naming naghiwalay kasi ayoko na. I don’t wanna ruin their family. ”Kawawa ang mga anak mo’, parang ganu’n,” she added.
But Ogie always refused to separate from Regine, which is why they are still together.
“Pero ayaw niya. Mamamatay daw siya. Kasi parang decided na siya na he really wanted to be with me,” Regine said.
“Pinanindigan din naman ako ng asawa ko. Nu’ng naging kami, nakipaghiwalay na siya para tama. Tinama rin naman niya ‘yung life niya kasi ayaw din naman niya ng ganu’n lang,” she added.
It wasn’t until she became friends with Michelle that the issues were resolved.
“Doon sa mga couples na naka-experience ng hindi agad nagkakapatawaran, mas lalong mahihirapan ‘yong mga bata, e,” she said.
“Pwede naman pala to have a relationship with the ex. You just have to be more open, to be more forgiving and willing to have a relationship,” she added.
