L’Oreal, DTI team up for beauty, digital upskilling program

MANILA, Philippines — Beauty leader L’Oréal is collaborating with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and nonprofit organization SPARK! Philippines to provide beauty and digital training to 600 entrepreneurs in the country.

In a statement, L’Oréal said the partnership aims to provide training on skincare, haircare and make-up, digital content creation, TikTok Shop and affiliate platforms, as well as business literacy to help entrepreneurs succeed in the digital economy.

The collaboration will involve the nationwide expansion of the Beauty for a Better Life E-Beauty Advisor Program.

Launched in 2023, the program has upskilled 2,346 beneficiaries in Quezon City and Makati.

The program’s best performing graduates have gained access to earning opportunities and are now content creators, affiliate partners and live streamers.

“We at the DTI are dedicated to creating inclusive, competitive and resilient MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) But we cannot do this alone. That is why we are proud to work with SPARK! Philippines and L’Oréal, two organizations that have shown what it means to empower women not just with resources, but dignity, skills and confidence. This program is a testament to the transformative power of digital skills in today’s modern economy,” Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said.

For his part, L’Oréal Philippines country managing director Yassine Bakkari said the partnership reaffirms the company’s commitment to empower 10,000 Filipinos by 2030 through beauty education.

“This partnership will propel us to scale Beauty for A Better Life nationwide and upskill Filipinos with beauty education and provide access to livelihood opportunities,” he said.

“Partnerships like this prove that through strong collaboration between the private sector and the local government, we can positively impact the lives of more Filipinos,” he said further.

SPARK! Philippines executive director Maica Teves said the program is expected to provide inclusive and sustainable livelihood through beauty and social commerce.

“When women earn, the entire communities rise. Expanding the Beauty for A Better Life E-BA (Beauty Advisor) Program gives them the tools and confidence to thrive in the digital marketplace,” she said.

Formed in 1909, L’Oreal has a diverse portfolio of 37 brands to cater to the varied needs of consumers worldwide.
