STRONG demand from both retail and institutional investors prompted BDO Unibank Inc. to end the public offer period for its latest peso-denominated Asean sustainability bonds eight days ahead of schedule.
The bank concluded its fourth green bond offering worth P5 billion on Monday, July 14. It was originally set to run from July 9 to 22.
“The bank decided to close the offer period early… following strong demand from both retail and institutional investors,” BDO said in a disclosure.
The bonds have a tenor of 1 1/2 years and carry an annual coupon of 5.875 percent. Issue, settlement and listing are scheduled for July 29.
BDO has said that net proceeds from the issuance would be used “to finance and/or refinance eligible assets as defined in the bank’s Sustainable Finance Framework, support the bank’s lending activities, and diversify the bank’s funding sources.”
ING Bank N.V.’s Manila Branch served as sole arranger and sustainability coordinator. The selling agents included BDO Unibank Inc. and ING while BDO Capital & Investment Corp. acted as financial advisor.
BDO reported a net income of P19.7 billion for the first quarter of 2025, up 6.48 percent from P18.5 billion in the same period last year, driven by sustained performance across its core businesses.
Gross customer loans rose to P3.3 trillion, reflecting brand-based growth across all market segments, while deposits expanded 6 percent year on year to P3.8 trillion, with a current account savings account ratio of 70 percent.
BDO shares on Tuesday slipped 60 centavos, or 0.39 percent, to P151.40 each amid a 1.0-percent drop for the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index.
