MANILA, Philippines — Ayala-led ACEN Corp. has been recognized again for its environmental, social and governance (ESG) leadership, setting the benchmark for responsible business in the energy sector.
For the third straight year, the company has landed in the FTSE4Good Index Series by global data provider FTSE Russell for its consistent performance in implementing ESG practices.
Companies included in the FTSE4Good Index Series were said to have demonstrated strong performance in meeting ESG standards.
ACEN joins other Zobel family-led companies in the 2025 FTSE4Good list – Ayala Corp., Globe Telecom Inc., Ayala Land Inc. and Bank of the Philippine Islands.
“At ACEN, sustainability is more than a responsibility; it’s a strategic lever for growth. The company believes that sustainability delivers real business outcomes, driving performance across its operations and partnerships,” the energy firm said.
Similarly, ACEN was rated A in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment for its better management of financially material sustainability risks and opportunities within the energy sector.
Ranging from AAA (highest) to CCC (lowest), the MSCI ESG Ratings assess a company’s exposure to ESG risks, as well as how effectively it manages them compared to industry peers.
“ESG is embedded in how we invest, operate and grow. These upgraded ratings reflect the strength of our decarbonization strategy and our ability to manage sustainability risks while creating long-term value,” ACEN chief finance officer and chief strategy officer Jonathan Back said.
“As we expand across the region, ESG remains central to building capital efficiency, investor confidence and resilient growth,” Back said.
ACEN, on track to reach 100 percent clean power generation this year, earlier scored a higher rating for its commitment to climate action and transparency.
The Ayala Group’s listed energy platform obtained a leadership level and an A- rating from the environmental non-profit disclosure system CDP.
